About Mrs. Montuori Now it is time for me to tell you a little bit about myself. I live in Wyckoff with my husband, Tom and my 1 year old, Charlie, but I grew up in River Edge with my parents and my sister, Lauren. I went to Cherry Hill School and then River Dell. I graduated from The College of New Jersey in 2009 with a degree in Elementary Education and English. I spent time taking classes at Fairleigh Dickinson University to become and Orton Gillingham trained teacher. This means that I learned how to help kids read using a multisensory approach. I feel so lucky to teach in the school where I learned as a child. Cherry Hill was always a wonderful place to play and grow. I hope it is the same for all of you. I have many interests and passions aside from teaching. My favorite thing in the whole world is spending time with my family. This past year, I had the chance to watch my son Charlie grow from a tiny baby into a little boy with thoughts and opinions of his own. I love playing with him, taking him to the farm near our house, and seeing the world through his eyes. Another thing I love to do is cook. My grandma taught me how to cook when I was little, so I love making her favorite recipes for my family. I also love hiking, kayaking, and exploring in general. That leads to my next great passion...traveling! When I was younger, I traveled to Europe and other fun places with my family. I learned so many things and realized there is a great big world out there to see. During college, I studied in Greece. When I graduated, I went to Spain, Italy, and Germany and spent time enjoying the culture with my friend. We had so much fun learning and meeting new people. Several years ago, I went on an exciting adventure to Denmark, Estonia, Germany, Russia, Sweden, and Finland with Ms. Krupka and Ms. W. For our Honeymoon, I went to Thailand and Cambodia with Tom and learned all about new cultures and people. I got to visit an elephant sanctuary, go to cooking school, and zipline through the jungle. I believe that travel and exploration are essential to our growth and world knowledge. I love to learn. I know that it never stops. Learning happens in all different places, not just in school. One of the best things about being a teacher is getting to learn new things from your students. I cannot wait to see what all of you teach me!
